Where
Albert Camus meets the I Ching and the spirits of William
Burroughs, Lightnin' Hopkins and Townes Van Zandt. Sisyphus Rolls
is our particular way of keeping the music rolling at STRR 24
hours a day, seven days a week, whenever hosted programs are not
scheduled.
Sisyphus Rolls often
takes the form of a virtual crap game whereby we provide the
possibilities from a dynamic playlist of currently featured and other
music, and leave what plays when in the calloused but capable hands
of ol' Sisyphus and two dice. He doesn't talk much, but it's clear
this mode of rolling is a nice alternative to his day job.
Most commonly, you will hear a mix of all we're currently featuring and other recent featured music, plus an ever-abundant supply of "Sisyphus tracks," our signature blend of classic and modern roots and hybrids from artists that run from world-famous to hometown-obscure. Additionally, we will sometimes use particular blocks of time thematically - or to hone in more specifically on something being featured - while still generally allowing (see note below) the dice to dictate the order of play.
Note: We use the word "generally" because our endless toiler is sometimes too busy with high-rolling obligations of a different sort. Thus, at times the ST Program Director may remove the dice from his sweaty hands, send him back to his real job, and pull the strings for blocks of undetermined length. Since we can't tell you when this happens due to the restrictive mandates of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, how do you know who's responsible for what, when? In Dylan's words, we suggest you "take what you will gather from coincidence."
